Building for the Future: Transforming Maryville

by | Mar 11, 2025

For generations, Maryville Retreat Center in Holly, Michigan, has provided a sacred haven for spiritual renewal, reflection, and communal connection. Under the leadership of Sr. Noel Marie Gabriel, Executive Director, and Nick Osantoski, Director, Maryville continues to foster hospitality and spiritual nourishment, rooted in the Felician Sisters’ mission.

Recent renovations have focused on improving comfort and accessibility. A new ADA-compliant entry door and remodeled conference room restroom ensure ease of access at the Main Center. The San Damiano Center now features an ADA main entry, coat closet, and upgraded cabinetry and buffet space.

The Main Center boasts a freshly painted exterior and a new roof, while interior updates include new furniture in bedrooms, conference rooms, and Peace Rooms. The lakeview conference room underwent a full remodel, offering a serene setting with breathtaking views. A newly constructed stairway provides direct lake access, fostering moments of tranquility. Additional enhancements include high-efficiency washers and dryers for staff use and decorative fencing at the property’s entryway.

To support connectivity, high-speed fiber internet is now available in all buildings. The San Damiano Center’s holding kitchen has been upgraded for greater functionality, and new cabinetry in the Main Center’s dining room enhances storage and service space for communal meals.

Upcoming projects include soundproofing and remodeling the Peace Rooms to create a more serene space for prayer and meditation. These enhancements reflect the Felician Sisters’ commitment to hospitality and spiritual enrichment.

With each improvement, Maryville reaffirms its mission—offering a renewed, welcoming space for all seeking rest, reflection and spiritual growth.
