Embrace the Adventure
at Our Lakeside Retreat

Set on 240 acres of wooded, lakeside property in Holly, Michigan, Maryville Retreat Center offers a thoughtfully designed mix of recreation, reflection and renewal. Our amenities are intentionally placed to support both quiet contemplation and active connection, all within easy walking distance of our lodging and conference facilities.

As one of the leading spiritual retreat centers in Michigan, we believe the natural environment is part of the retreat experience itself. Below is a guide to the activities and amenities available to guests during their stay.

Wooden gazebo situated on a large, well-maintained grassy lawn surrounded by tall trees with Lake Elliott in the background.

Lake Elliott

Lake Elliott sits at the heart of Maryville’s property and serves as a focal point for both reflection and recreation. The lake is visible from much of the grounds and provides a peaceful backdrop for prayer, journaling and quiet conversation. Several lookout points are positioned along the shoreline, offering scenic spots to pause throughout the day.

The lake is located just steps from our conference rooms and lodging, making them easy to access between sessions or during free time.

Lake Elliott
Trail

The Lake Elliott Trail is a scenic hiking path that traces the edge of our lakefront property. Guests are welcome to walk the trail at any time during their stay, and many find it ideal for morning prayer, midday reflection or simply clearing the mind between retreat sessions.

The trail begins near our main lodge and is accessible to walkers of varying ability levels. Benches and reflection points are placed along the route, encouraging guests to slow down and take in the natural beauty of the property.

Beach and Swimming Area

Our seasonal beach and swimming area is available to retreat guests during warmer months, providing a refreshing way to enjoy Lake Elliott. The beach is a short walk from our lodging and offers a relaxed setting for individual rest or group fellowship.

Watercraft Rentals

Guests can experience Lake Elliott from the water through our watercraft rentals, available for $10 per person for the duration of your stay. Rental options include kayaks, paddle boats, row boats and canoes, as well as a pontoon boat ride for individuals or groups — all included in the single flat fee.

Patio and Gazebo

The patio and gazebo are popular for both structured and informal gatherings, offering beautiful views of Lake Elliott and the surrounding grounds.

The patio is well-suited for casual gatherings, social hours and shared moments of fellowship. Our gazebo, located at the lake, provides a covered outdoor space for prayer and small group discussion.

Firepit

Our outdoor firepits are a favorite gathering point for evening programming, group discussion and quiet reflection under the stars. With multiple portable firepits available throughout the retreat center, your group can gather almost anywhere on the grounds. Whether your group is closing the day with shared prayer, storytelling or simply sitting together in stillness, the firepits creates an inviting atmosphere for connection.
